Our Privacy — What Dharma Collects and Why

Dharma is Sempre Vida (Pty) Ltd’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform (Registration No. 2025/690472/07, of Farm 544 of Portion 811, Tesselaarsdal, Caledon Rural, Western Cape, 7230, South Africa) (“we,” “Dharma”), and we are the responsible party / data controller for the personal information you provide when you use it, wherever in the world you use it from. Dharma Gen 1 is available on a single payment, single-access basis; future generations of Dharma may also offer subscription-based access as the platform develops.

What we collect. Your full name, date of birth, and email address, and a unique identification number we generate and link to your profile. This ID connects your name, date of birth, email address, and reading history across sessions, across future versions of Dharma (“generations”), and across Dharma’s other tools as they launch. It, not your name, date of birth, or email address alone, is the consolidated key we use to recognise you over time.

Why we collect it, and our legal basis. Your name and date of birth are the basis of a Dharma reading — without them, we cannot calculate your architecture. We use your email address for purchase-related contact and to create your user profile. Your unique ID lets us consolidate your reading, and any future readings or profile data, under a single record as you move between Dharma’s current and future generations and tools, so you don’t have to re-enter your details each time and your profile stays consistent. Giving your name, date of birth, and email address is your choice, but the tool cannot function without accurate information: if you don’t provide it, we can’t generate or deliver a reading for you. Our basis for processing this information, including the consolidated cross-generation use described above, is your consent, and — for any purchase or subscription — performance of the contract you enter into with us.

Age. Dharma is intended for users aged 16 and older. If you are 16 or 17, using Dharma confirms that a parent or legal guardian has given permission for you to do so and for us to process your information as described here. If you are under 16, please don’t use Dharma or provide us with your information.

Payment information. Dharma does not currently process payments. When this feature launches, Dharma will be available in two forms: a single payment for single access to your reading (Gen 1), and — as Dharma’s SaaS platform develops in future generations — an optional recurring subscription. Your card details will be collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Paystack, on our behalf — we will not receive, see, or store your card number, only confirmation that your payment was successful or that your subscription is active, as applicable.

Where your data is stored, and cross-border transfer. Your name, date of birth, email address, and your unique ID are stored on our application infrastructure, hosted by our infrastructure provider, located outside South Africa. This means your information is transferred outside South Africa to our hosting provider as an operator processing data on our behalf. We require our hosting provider to meet the requirements of POPIA section 72 and, for users in the EU/UK, Chapter V of the GDPR, through their standard contractual clauses / data processing agreement. Beyond our hosting provider, and Paystack for payments, we do not share or sell your information to any other third party.

How long we keep it, and how deletion works. We retain your name, date of birth, email address, reading history, and any profile data linked to your unique ID for as long as your profile remains active — whether you’ve made a single payment or hold an active subscription. If you request deletion of your profile, or unsubscribe from an active subscription, we delete this in one operation, keyed to your ID. This applies across every Dharma product or generation that uses your ID, so a single deletion request removes your consolidated profile everywhere it has been carried forward.

Your rights. You have the right to access and request correction of the personal information we hold about you, and the right to object to our processing of it. If you’re in the EU or UK, you additionally have the right to request erasure or restriction of your information, to receive a copy of it in a portable format, and to withdraw any consent you’ve given, at any time. Complaints. You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we’ve handled your information incorrectly. If you’re in the EU or UK, you may instead or additionally complain to your local data protection supervisory authority.
